The Reasons Why Nickelodeon Died As A Family Network & Became A Shitty Network

Hello everybody, I am The Unknown Avenger and this is something out-of-the-ordinary for me. In this particular blog post, I'm not exactly doing what you call a look back. What I'm doing is listing the reasons why Nickelodeon is such a shitty ass network now a days and my thoughts on the decisions made by Nickelodeon.

Without further ado, lets get this party started!

  1. The removal of the game shows: My problem with this decision to... Now yes, I know shows filmed before an audience were in decline, but that doesn't mean give up and don't try to save it while you still have a chance to do so.
  2. The removal of the channel Nick GAS: Now, was it really necessary to drop your games and sports channel for a 24 hour channel devoted to teenagers?! No, not really. I mean, splitting Noggin (Now Nick Jr.) and The N (Now TeenNick) was a stupid decision. I mean, what preschoolers are going to be watching Nick Jr. at 3:00 in the morning?! None, that's who. The teenagers had the night time and the young ones had the daytime, and that was perfect just the way it was.
  3. The lack of variety: Okay, lets be honest. Nickelodeon has some variety as of 2011, but the variety is pure shit! The teenager themed shows are the same thing and sadly, the cartoons are going that same way.
  4. The schedule: This is a BIG problem if you ask me. Nickelodeon has the weekday afternoons all screwed up. I mean, they air one show as much as six to eight times in a single day. Okay, that right there makes no sense unless it's a marathon. But, oh, no, they do this every dang day! Jeez, that's too much! That's like putting a marathon of all the episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine to date on PBS Kids Sprout and airing them nonstop.
  5. The cast not wanting to work in Orlando, instead of Hollywood. OKAY, this is a problem for me because, WHY DO YOU WANT TO FILM IN A CITY WHERE THE DAMN PRESS IS TRYING TO STALK YOUR ASS EVERY MOTHER FUCKING DAY?! Sure, it may have been easier, but hello, the press doesn't stalk your damn ass around Orlando, Florida. There's a lot less press coverage and you could do things without having to be hounded every single place you go.
  6. The closure of Nickelodeon Studios: This is a problem because Nickelodeon didn't even try to save the studios by shooting more shows there. Instead, they let the shit hit the fan, so to speak and sank it. Instead they decided to use Nickelodeon on Sunset. (I went there in 2004, and that studio is SHIT!) I've been to Nickelodeon Studios three times and it was bigger and more comfortable than Nickelodeon on Sunset. And to top that, Nickelodeon Studios had more to do besides sitting and watching a show.
And those six reasons are just some of the reasons among many others on why Nickelodeon is now longer a great channel, rather a shitty ass network.

Unknown Look Backs: Nickelodeon

Hello everyone, welcome back to "Unknown Look Backs", the next generation of "Unknown Rants". Today we're going to take a look back at the first kids network Nickelodeon. So sit back and enjoy this episode of "Unknown Look Backs" as we tackle Nickelodeon! (This is going to be as fun as our first episode which was Cartoon Network.)

The History of Nickelodeon
Through the Eyes of
The Unknown Avenger

My history of Nickelodeon traces its root back to the mid-1990's. At that time Nickelodeon was the second network I watched a lot. (The first obviously being Cartoon Network.) I remember watching fantastic shows like 'All That', 'Kenan & Kel' and so on. At that point in time, I didn't ever think this network would suck in just over a decade. I was simply thrilled with the classic programming and the shows made me laugh like crazy due to the zany antics of the characters and I for one, found it very humorous. The late half of the 1990's and Nickelodeon was on fire! (Not literally.) But we had some of the best programming at that time and it was at a time when networks weren't afraid to try something edgy.

The twenty first century began very promising with amazing shows like "Invader Zim" and holy cow, it looked like we were on the verge of something bigger than ever before. As the next few years ticked by, Nickelodeon continued to shuck out more and more fantastic programming and all was well in the world. It looked like the good times would never end. But as the saying goes, "All good things come to an end." and at that time I never believed it. Then came the 'trouble on the horizon' (so to speak). The year was 2004. Nickelodeon was still doing good, but it felt as though change was coming and I wasn't sure of what kind of change in store for us.

Now, we hit the era I call, 'Doom is here, but not yet ready to attack.' The years 2005 and 2006 were problematic, but were still enjoyable. Then we hit the dreaded year 2007, when Nickelodeon started to degrade so bad, it would be best described in anger. (But, I'm not gonna go there this time.) Nickelodeon was in the stages of phasing out whatever older shows they hadn't axed off earlier and began to shove the new garbage into the network. This completely turned me off and I only watched whatever classics I could until they disappeared off the face of Nickelodeon. The years that have followed are no better. Granted, Nick does have some okay programs (like Cartoon Network), it's not enough to save Nick from the failure that it is becoming with every passing year.

So, now we transition to the segment I like to call...

The New Shows I Like
Through the Eyes of The Unknown Avenger

  1. T.U.F.F. Puppy: This show is simply interesting and good and excellently executed.
  2. House of Anubis: The only non-Nickelodeon live-action show on Nickelodeon that I like. It is fantastic and shares the title of perfect (much like Ben 10: Ultimate Alien does on Cartoon Network).

In conclusion, Nickelodeon is worse than Cartoon Network, but they have two decent shows, so there is still hope! :-)

Upcoming Unknown Look Backs

  1. Music Television (MTV).
  2. G4 (The former home of video games on television.)
SNICK around, I'll be back with more Unknown Look Backs.
